Lady in Red

Photographed at Meji Mura, a Meji-era historical site in November 2010, a beautiful autumn day.  This lady was part of a wadaiko group performing there that day. It’s hard to see, but she’s actually playing some kind of wood block percussion instrument. I love how her bright red costume contrasts with the natural colours around her.

Friends, laughter… and room with a sweet view.
I don’t know what he said but apparently it was pretty funny.  I love how I somehow managed to capture a fun moment and a nice view of Nagoya’s JR Central Towers way in the background. Good lighting, I guess.

Sweet Potato Girl
A little girl proudly (?) shows off her freshly picked sweet potato.
This was shot in Sayama City in Osaka, in October 2008. I was visiting some friends at an English school I used to work at.  They were taking their kindergarten students on a field trip, so I tagged along.

Love Me Shiney
Another festival photo. And another badly shot but accidently cool (maybe?) composition, this time featuring some stereotypically nonsensical Japanese English. Taiko Matsuri (festival) May 2008, Nakamura Ward, Nagoya, Japan.

Mikoshi ManI love the expression on this guys face as he struggles — but enjoys himself — helping to carry a mikoshi (portable shrine) during the Taikyo Matsuri. Nakamura Ward, Nagoya, Japan. May 2008.

This is one of those badly photographed but accidentally kind of cool photos.  At least I think so.  March 2008 in front of Nagoya Station.

Another Cosplay Girl
If I was more of a geek I could tell you who this girl is dressed up as. But I have no idea. Shot in August 2008 at the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya.
